The Boss, Manu Da Silva ...
At the beginning of the seventies, Manu Da Silva meets Bernie Bonvoisin in a west paris suburb. The two partners become quickly inseparable, and it's only natural when in 1977 Bernie launches Trust, Manu becomes the groups roadie.
In 1981 Trust becomes the opening act for Killer Tour, Manu is from the trip and gets on well with Steve Harris. Shortly afterwards he accepts Steve's proposition and joins the groups staff still as a roadie and accompanies him on all the tours through the 80's.
At the end of Seventh Tour Of A Seventh Tour, Manu retires to his country of birth, Portugal and takes charge of Eddie's Bar at the request of Steve from its opening in 1989. That's the story !
Other annecdotes : Manu is a member of Moto Club in Faro, which organises one of the most important motorbike meeting in Europe. For more information, see links with the official Moto Club site.
Also to note, the film "Les démons de jésus" (see poster here) directed by Bernie Bonvoisin in 1996. This movie is freely inspired from souvenirs from the youth of the former singer of Trust. He correctly describes The background in which Bernie and Manu lived in the 70's between Nanterre and Argenteuil.

... and Eddie's Bar
A Little history of the bar ...
Like many of his felllow countrymen, Steve Harris enjoys the weather of the Algarve, a tourist region in the South of Portugal. So much so, he decided to have a villa built, where he lives most of the time, when he's not touring around the world, or in his English Manor.
The idea of creating Eddie's Bar came to him because he wanted to be able to have a couple of drinks in a rock pub, and he couldn't find this type of place in the Algarve.
Using the old saying " If you want a job done, do it yourself ! " he decided to build his own bar, and to trust Manu Da Silva to run the place (Ex-roadie from the group).
He took advantage by decorating the bar with all his old dusty memorabilia from his house in Essex. The bar opened its doors for the first time on September 14, 1989 and became quickly a mecca for all the true fans of Iron Maiden.
Thanks to João Moura for those pics :

During the next 15 years, Manu remained faithful to the cause, standing behind his bar, until his untimely demise on 31st May 2005 after a long struggle against cancer.
Manu Da Silva was the soul of Eddie's Bar and this website is dedicated to his memory
Rest in peace motherfucker!
